Boxy Suite Updates

Hey there! It's been a while. We've fixed a few annoying issues that were reported by many of you. Enjoy the update 🙌

• Added The apps are now ready for macOS Big Sur
• Added When you download an attachment, the app now asks you where to save it
• Improved Made the app more stable
• Fixed some visual glitches
• Fixed an issue causing the "Use Gmail basic version" screen to appear when switching account via the web menu
• Fixed an issue with the status menu item when clicking it to bring the app forward

• Removed cookie-sharing from all the apps of the suite. This will reduce the number of times you need to re-login and improve loading speed when launching the app and switching accounts, at the cost of having to login in each app of the suite individually.
• Disabled automatic theme switch that makes the app follow your macOS appearance preference. You can re-enable it Preferences > Interface and select "Automatic" for the "Theme" toggle.

Compatibility update for macOS Catalina (coming this fall). It enables the hardened runtime and notarizes the app for improved security.

This update makes sure that Boxy for Gmail always checks for updates when it is launched. This will help keep everyone on the latest version and make things easier for us.

• Added a new icon to emails toolbar that detects email tracking. Read all about it in our blog post.
• Added Quick Launcher in Gmail’s sidebar for better discoverability (you can turn this off in Preferences > Interface if you don’t like it, but we dig it).
• Added “Sent with Boxy Suite” signature by default. This helps us spread the word about Boxy Suite, but it’s 100% optional (you can turn this off in Preferences > General).

If you happen to get logged out often, you can use the new checkmark in Preferences > Advanced to disable cookie sharing. To learn more about this read our help article on this topic.

• Added Quick Launcher: boost your productivity with this new powerful feature. Hit CMD+K to quickly change account, navigate between sections (Inbox, Starred, …) and launch task managers
• Added Task Managers integration: you can now quickly create a task in your favorite todo app, linking to the current email. We currently support: Things, OmniFocus, 2Do and Todoist. You can also copy a link to the current email with the new shortcut CMD+Shift+C
• Added Instant Account Switching. This is a game changer: switching between accounts is now super fast! We intelligently cache your most recently used accounts and allow you to switch between them instantly.
• Added Global Unread Counts. You will now be able to see at a glance the unread counts for all your accounts from the Quick Launcher (you can show it with CMD+K). Thanks Ryan for the idea!
• Added Global Notifications: you will now receive notifications for all your accounts, not just the frontmost one.
• Added New Dark theme. Now also the content of your emails will be dark, not only Gmail’s interface. The theme follows your macOS dark mode configuration.
• Added Open Links in Background option, find it in Preferences → Interface. (Unfortunately this does not work if Chrome is your default browser due to a Chrome bug).
• Improved Minimal Mode. We’ve revamped Boxy for Gmail popular Minimal Mode with many tweaks and improvements.
• Improved mailto links support: now you can set Boxy as your default email client with just one click in settings instead of selecting it as the default email app from Apple Mail
• Improved account handling, switching and remembering the last used account
• Improved the app now uses the latest Safari User Agent by default to avoid being blocked by the security policies of Single Sign On providers.
• Improved you can now use Homebrew Cask to install Boxy Suite on your Mac. Just use brew cask install boxy-suite

Hey, it’s been a while! We’re incredibly excited to release our first updates as full-time makers of Boxy Suite (read more about our venture)! There’s much more to come, here’s what’s new:

• Added brand new notifications system (find instructions on how to enable it in the app’s settings)
• Added a beautiful new onboarding to welcome users to the app
• Added more granular controls for font size (use ⌘+ and ⌘-)
• Added shortcuts to the View menu to toggle Minimal Mode, Reader Mode and show Notification Settings
• Improved styling of Minimal Mode
• Fixed app window height slightly changing with every launch
• Fixed various UI and Black Theme issues
• Fixed alignment of sidebar button when using the app in full-screen mode

• Added new Minimal Mode: it’s a way to make your inbox less cluttered and more minimal. Find it in Preferences' Interface tab.
• Changed “Paste and Match Style” shortcut to CMD+Shift+V instead of CMD+Shift+Option+V
• Fixed delay when opening links in emails
• Fixed mailto links not working when the app is minimized
• Tracked down the problem with Gmail signature images not loading and wrote a help article about it.

• Improved the app now remembers the window size and location across launches
• Fixed an issue that made the top nav bar of Gmail disappear when clicking on threads

• Fixed "Email this page" from Safari not working with Boxy for Gmail when set as default email client
• Fixed a bug that caused the "Accounts" menu to appear some seconds after the app was launched. Now it appears immediately.
